Criminal Record Check Instructions

As part of the conditions of your employment, you are required to complete a Criminal Record Check. Please follow the instructions below based on your place of residence.

For Applicants Residing in Sarnia (City Limits)

If you live within the City of Sarnia, you must apply through the Sarnia Police Service using the online application system:

Sarnia Police Online Record Checks*                      

  • Select Criminal Record Check (CRC) for Employment as the type of check.
  • Follow the online instructions to submit your application and pay any applicable fees.
  • Once completed, you will receive further instructions on how to retrieve your results.

For Applicants Residing Outside of Sarnia (OPP Jurisdiction)    

If you live outside of Sarnia and your local police service is the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), you must apply through their online system:

OPP Online Record Checks*

  • Select Criminal Record Check – Level 1 as the type of check.
  • Follow the prompts to complete your application.
  • Payment is processed online, and a receipt is provided upon completion.
  • Processing times may vary between jurisdictions, so we recommend applying as soon as possible.

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE

It is your responsibility to confirm whether your local police service falls under a municipal police department or the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Ensuring you apply through the correct agency will help avoid delays in processing your Criminal Record Check.

SUBMISSION OF PROOF

Once you have submitted your application, please provide proof of submission, such as a receipt or confirmation document, until you receive the completed copy of your Criminal Record Check.
